Richmond’s story telling group, Secretly Y’all is hosting an event on Monday May 7th at 7:30, with the proceeds going to support the Richmond Zine Fest!

Come on out to Balliceaux to hear stories and maybe share your own. Celebrate Richmonder’s sharing their stories, whether orally or written!

Balliceaux
203 N. Lombardy St., Richmond, VA 23220

As Nicki Minaj so eloquently puts it “I do anything that you say, anything cause you da Boss…you da Boss Man.”

Come give and receive stories. Once again at Balliceaux we will be sharing tales – this time about horrible bosses, or work, or inspiring types who are entitled the name…Boss.

Door opens at 6:30, stories start ’round 7:30. Fill your bellies and get a taste of life with Secretly Y’all.

Yours,
Lainie, Colin, and Kathleen

Richmond Food Not Bombs will be screen printing patches on Sunday September 11th at 11am at 2005 Barton Avenue. If you have fabric you can give us to print on, or screen printing ink that would be great. If you want to learn a little bit about screen printing or help out, please come by early THIS Sunday!

Once we have those patches made we will be using them to raise money for Richmond Food Not Bombs. One event we want to do this at is the Richmond Zine Fest on October 8th. We are looking for a couple of people who can staff the Richmond Food Not Bombs table from 11-6 on Saturday October 8th. We will also need folks to help get literature and more organized ahead of time. Please get in touch if any of this interests you.

The Richmond Zine Fest organizers are again organizing a pre zine fest potluck and reading event the night before the zine fest. Last year’s potluck and reading was such a good time we wanted to do it again.

So Friday October 7th from 7pm to 10pm come join the organizers of the Richmond Zine Fest and both out of town and local zinesters to socialize and share food.

Last year we had a really great time with the zine readings that folks did during the potluck. So if you are interested please bring some of your material to share. This will be a casual event, but if you want to let us know that you plan on reading, please email us at richmondzinefest@yahoo.com

This event is FREE just like the zine fest, but please bring a dish or non-alcoholic drink to share! If you are able to label your dish for allergens (peanuts, dairy, meat, soy) even better! (more…)

The 2011 Richmond Zine Fest will be on October 8th at the Gay Community Center of Richmond! We just confirmed the date and location.

Sign up for tabling and for workshops will all be starting in the next couple of weeks.

The Wingnut tables at the Zine Fest, and will have a couple new publications for this October event. If you are a friend of the Wingnut (or want to become one) feel free to get in touch about the Zine Fest. We should also be able to host some out of town folks to spend the night, as long as you are down with our  Guest Policy (http://wingnutrva.org/wingnut-guest-policy/).

It is a really great time, with lots of neat people locally and from around the country. There is still plenty of time to create your own zine to sell or trade or give away at the Richmond Zine Fest.

The Richmond Zine Fest could definitely use your support and participation this year, as the cost of renting the space has increased. We are doing our best to keep the table costs the same, but that means we have to make up the difference through fundraisers. The next fundraiser will be this Thursday, May 12th at Sprout (1 North Morris Street) at 10pm and will be a Zine Reading with 10 different zinesters sharing from their works!
