Join the Radical Recovery Support Group for some sober bowling!

Thursday November 14th!!

bowling
We will be meeting and eating from 7-8:30 at The Wingnut Anarchist Collective
and then leaving to be at Hanover AMF by 9pm!
Bring a dish to share if you can/want but we will have some food too. Food and soda is super expensive at the bowling alley so we want to eat a lot before we go!
We will definitely have room to give rides if you can meet at the Wingnut!

You can also meet us at the bowling alley right before/at 9.

The bowling is all you can bowl shoes included – about $12 bucks per person for 2 hours of all we can play, so please bring your own money! We will try to get coupons to cut down on cost but no promises.

There IS booze at the bowling alley, so its not a totally sober environment by any means. But we will be bowling as a sober group!

The Wingnut Anarchist Collective will be hosting an unofficial SMART Recovery meeting on Wednesday December 5th at 7:30 pm.

The idea of having some kind of sobriety peer support group in Richmond that’s an alternative to AA seems to have struck a chord with a lot of people. This is the 2nd meeting around that idea.

We are waiting on one member to get an official facilitator training, but in the mean time, we want to start having meetings of interested sober/trying to get sober folks to help support each other and practice for when the group becomes official.

If you are interested, you can find out more about the SMART Recovery program here: http://www.smartrecovery.org/

SMART Recovery is a program to help support people who are sober and are trying to get/stay sober. It is a non-religious program, and an alternative to the AA/NA model. Once we have an officially trained facilitator, we can begin to make the moves necessary to have our chapter recognized by courts and such as an official option for people who are required to attend a sobriety group. But in the mean time, we’d like to start supporting each other. And get more people familiar with the program so that we have many capable facilitators, even if they aren’t all officially trained.

This is a sober, all ages event.

The idea of having some kind of sobriety peer support group in Richmond that’s an alternative to AA seems to have struck a chord with a lot of people. This meeting is going to be to discuss the possibility of starting a SMART Recovery chapter that would meet on a regular basis in Richmond.

The first meeting will be Wednesday, November 7th at 7:30pm at the Wingnut Anarchist Collective at 2005 Barton Avenue.

We have finished putting together a zine for Richmond Copwatch- Included in this zine are the Copwatch Mission Statement and Objectives, Know Your Rights Information, Information about FOIA, Alternatives to Calling the Police, Talk to Neighbors not Police ideas, and more! You can pickup a copy at the Wingnut (for free, but donations to support the copying of the zine appreciated) or download a copy off of zine library.
