The idea of having some kind of sobriety peer support group in Richmond that’s an alternative to AA seems to have struck a chord with a lot of people. This meeting is going to be to discuss the possibility of starting a SMART Recovery chapter that would meet on a regular basis in Richmond.

The first meeting will be Wednesday, November 7th at 7:30pm at the Wingnut Anarchist Collective at 2005 Barton Avenue.

tired of AA? wondering about the role intoxication plays in your life? curious about why some people go straightedge? want to talk about how to be sober without judging? want to talk about how you think sobriety is or isn’t important to radical social movements? want to talk about sobriety without god?
Let’s Talk!!!

You are invited to come to the Wingnut for an OPEN, and SAFE as possible, discussion on issues surrounding sobriety. Bring questions, bring comments, bring respect, bring your ears for listening.
The direction of the conversation depends on the attendees.

This is something that might develop into a more regular sort of event/discussion/support group etc.- depending on where interests lie.

7pm, the Wingnut is a sober space, bring snacks to share if you want!
