What You Will See

“SILENCE”
A shadow-puppet spoken word play by Jess X Chen

The Cast is the impossible relationship developed between the last human on Earth and the Earth. The last human’s name is “Silence” she has been uprooted from her home, and replanted on the other side of the world. With time, an impossible intimacy is exchanged amongst the limits of language, the limits of scale, the limits of two lifetimes and they attempt to bring each other to the present. When the Earth mysteriously stops spinning, the world is thrown out of balance, Silence is left shivering on the dark side of her love, desperately trying to understand what happened.

“STILL BORN”
A full length solo album by Beyon.
The mind behind lyrics like “all the blackness in the sky are just stars you can’t see without a telescope” continues to excavate cosmic scale, human loss and regeneration. These tracks are searchlights into the corridors of one’s forgotten past, while friends take the form of wooly bear caterpillars who freeze every winter only to thaw in the summer. Like the light of stars, these songs outlive their source, and in their shining, allow a letting go.

“LoveHoldLetGo“ is a mobile collaborative performance spanning the oral-traditions of poetry, north american folk punk music, shadow puppet theater, and the potential of live art to bring communities closer to each other, and to the Earth. It is a means of using mythology to heal personal and global loss, and re-imagine new possibilities of life on the human and cosmic scale.

“LoveHoldLetGo” It is an attempt of challenging traditional systems of performance and distribution with it’s DIY gravitation to perform in living rooms, ranches, yards, forests, parks and cemeteries — or whatever spaces choose to embrace it.

“LoveHoldLetGo“ is an invitation for communities across the country to participate in an evening-length moveable theater of listening, loving, holding and letting go. As long as there is space, LoveHoldLetGo will be waiting to come to life, just beneath your feet.

1. So how do I get involved? How do I organize a “_____ ” show?
Do you want to go all out, and work together to organize a collaborative, curated show?

The scale and scope of the show is whatever you are willing to dream. We are making a “Guide to Organizing Collaborative Themed Live Shows”  which will be available shortly, and contain a lot of prompts. Curated themed shows have worked extremely well in the past, and created temporary communities in certain cities. If you don’t know where to start, you can pick a theme that you see in the story of “Silence” or “Stillborn” and curate a show of storytelling around that. Some ideas include: 2 parts: loss/rebirth, 3 parts: love, hold, let go, the interaction of humans and the wild, the night sky, environmentalism, silence vs. noise, exploring identity, it is really quite endless. Think about what kind of stories might strike a chord in your community. Each of such are such broad themes that can invite others to join. There is no limits to the artistic and performative mediums that can be explored in these shows, and also venues. You invite the artists in your community. We can all share a stage and be a one-night community. There can be no stage. We can adjust our part accordingly. Keep your eyes peeled – the guide is in the works and will be coming soon!

Do you just want to hear our music and poetry, and see our play, and invite your friends?
That’s cool too. We can perform for anywhere between 30 minutes to one and a half hour features. We have a knack of inviting story circles on the spot as well. Afterwards, we would also be willing to teach workshops, and create conversations.

Can you perform/can we organize a benefit show?
Yes! Lets talk more and see if there is a way for the cause to inform what we perform and the way we do it.
