4)There was a nice little New Year’s Eve noise demo at the jail in
neighboring Durham. You can read about it.  Inside the Durham jail on New
Year’s Eve was Carlos riley Jr. People in the area are stepping up to
fight to free Durham native Carlos Riley, Jr, the cousin of known Bay-area
activist and MC Boots Riley. Carlos was stopped by a cop mid morning on
December 18th. During the stop, the cop shouted expletives, physically
attacked Carlos, verbally threatened to kill him and attempted to draw his
weapon to shoot at Carlos Riley. While attempting to draw his weapon, the
cop shot himself in the leg. Fearing for his life, Carlos fled the scene
in his car. According to the police, at this point he also allegedly took
the cop’s weapon and badge away from him.

5)The Final Straw recently did another interview with Viki Law and China
Martens about the newly published book, Don’t Leave Your Friends Behind:
Concrete Ways to Support Families in Social Justice Movements and
Communities (PM Press, 2012), which they edited and contributed to. They
talk about multi-generationality in struggle as well as intersections of
age, class, gender and race.
