The Wingnut tabled today at the Richmond Zine Fest at the Gay Community Center of Richmond. The event was highly successful. There were many different tablers, including local organizations such as the Flying Brick, RVA Industrial Workers of the World, Food Not Bombs, and James River Earth First.

The Wingnuts also facilitatated two workshops- a security culture workshop and a copwatch workshop. There were also 3 other really well attended workshops at the zine fest this year- zine making for all ages, LIPS (woman’s sexuality zine), and rock camp for girls. It was really nice to see the success of all of the workshops.

We saw people from WRIR as well as RVA Magazine in attendance. The Books on Wheels bus also made an appearance.

There were around 40 different tablers, lamplighter coffee vending food, and a really nice environment complete with a rainbow disco ball. It seemed that a good time was had by many. And there were even enough donations to the Richmond Zine Fest to make a nice start towards the organizing of next year’s RVA zine fest.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported DIY publishing and zine culture!
